Thanks to the internet (and social media), we've all been empowered to become reporters in one way or another. Add to that the smartphone and we've got bonafide self-journalists running about (a la space shuttle launch video from an airplane passenger which now has over 4 million YouTube views in less than 6 months - see below).
And now Apple has seen a way to monopolize on our inner-journalist. Patently Apple posted a story on July 12 about a new Apple iPhone invention and addition to the smartphone which will enable us to up the quality of our self-reporting - whether it's catching Grandma on camera interacting with the Talking TomCat and hysterically laughing (yes, I did that) or catching breaking news in the making. "According to a new patent application that was recently published, Apple has invented two potential iPhone features simply referred to as "report" and "interview" modes. The new features creatively utilize multiplex video streaming techniques whereby dual cameras on the iPhone could automatically switch back and forth between interviewer and interviewee seamlessly for a live report," reads the story.
With Apple's iMovie technology on our iPhones now, anyone can film, edit and share on a social media site of choice to become an instant reporter. But what we're really excited about here at rVue, is how we can utilize this technology for DOOH.
