I've just returned from a spectaculer trip to Europe. I saw beautiful landmarks like the Eiffle Tower, Arc d' Triomphe, Gaudi architecture and glorious DOOH. Wait, what?? DOOH?
That's right. Digital out-of-home advertising. And not just digital billboards alongside the road. In Europe, I saw some of the most awesome and unique uses of DOOH i've ever seen. DOOH was literally waiting for me around every centuries-old corner. I narrowed down my photo collection to my favorites spotted around Paris and Barcelona because there were just too many to show. Enjoy!
1. The Paris subway stations were filled with DOOH screens on the platforms and throughout the stations. This was a screen advertising the Paris Opera House on the platform while waiting for (or getting off of) the train.

2. You can find DOOH around nearly every corner throughout Europe. Here is an unsuspecting digital sign we came across while walking to the Eiffle Tower. We saw many similar signs around Paris promoting movies, beverages and museums. PS – note the seriously close parking jobs standard throughout the city – and I mean CLOSE.

3. Digital signage is found in state-of-the-art kiosks throughout Paris. A magazine stand beneath the Louvre had a series of food and beverage ads running on the digital screen, all of which can be purchased at this stand.

4. A food stop off the highway's of France brought us in to a Quick Burger (France's version of McDonald's). The digital signage display scrolled through many of the specials and combo meals that Quick offered. Crisp and sharp imagery sure makes a burger look tasty!

5. Barcelona had my two favorite displays of DOOH we came across on our trip... and I wasn't expecting anything less after seeing what occured on the streets there with Angry Birds. The first, was walking down the very busy street, La Rambla. Many of the storefront's had digitial signage in the front but the screens behind the window panes here offered a very clever way to show images to the pedestrians on the street. (The screens are on the top 4 windows)
5. And I saved the best for last! While wandering the tiny, small and winding streets of Barcelona, trying to make our way to the Picasso Museum, we were in awe when we came across this massive digital sign plastered IN a wall of a centuries old buildings. One word... awesome.
