Digital signage is evolving at warp speed. While at times we may see DOOH signage as dynamic advertising posters or billboards...other times, it's serving up such engaging and interactive content we have to stop and stare. When it is serving up interactive content and ice cream or soft drinks, we really take notice. It started with the Coca-Cola Happiness Machine bringing a level of interactivity to the vending machine experience. Now Unilever has introduced the ice cream machine for 2011.
The new vending machine steps up the interactivity level and makes the point-of-purchase a completely unique, and digital, experience. The "ice cream van for the digital age" is a machine that has facial recognition capabilties and captures, then measures, your smile 15 times per second. The machine even has 3G technology built in so you can share your pearly-white smile with your Facebook friends. The best part is, if you smile big enough - your ice cream is free! Interactivity, DOOH and Social components go together like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry.
